How I look at my clients

It’s important to examine how you look at your clients for your sake and theirs. This is for clients to get to know how I do think of them, and I’m guessing how many artists think of their clients. I also think that other artists may get something out of this.

My 3d Guide

My 3d Guide is designed for people who are thinking about hiring a 3d artist.

With the increasing demand for 3d there is a need for information for both artists and those hiring artists. Hollywood popularized 3d and now we’re seeing it everywhere. But, what does it take for YOU to have 3d?

I will answer those questions in this guide.

And yes, I am an artist. I do a little bit of everything from business cards on up to full blown 3d. I’ve been doing this since I was a kid and have been dabbling in 3d since the mid 90s so I hopefully my insight ends up being valuable to you.

As with most, writing this blog is not paying my bills so I’ll write topics as they hit me or I see a need. Make sure to check back for new info often. Don’t forget to bookmark us.

Thanks,
Bradley Stone

The price of 3d – How much is 3d going to cost me?

How much does it cost to get quality 3d modeling or rendering?

This is probably the one question that everybody has in common. I think that most people who have a great idea that needs to go to 3d are going to ask this question first. Lets start off with the basics.

How to become a 3d artist

You’ve probably clicked on this because you want to be a 3d artist.

I really hope I can give you the right advice my friend. I know what you are going through. When I was a kid I got a lot of attention for winning the grand prize at an art completion for the town I was in. They found out later that I was only 7 and everyone went nuts. Of course this was all the attention I needed to want to become an artist forever ;)

All about 3d software

One of the biggest questions or area of confusion that I see almost daily is the question of software. When it comes to 3d software there is a LOT.

WHAT SOFTWARE SHOULD MY ARTIST BE USING?

One of the determining factors most artists have to take into consideration is what the use of the end artwork will be. Some people are making products, some games, some film and video. So, it’s only natural that programmers have made very specific software for all these needs.

Dealing with insane clients… Can it be done ;)

:P

Lol ok yeah you read the title right. Today we are talking about the nutty insane stuff you have to deal with from clients in the art and design world.

Have you ever told your friends a story and they say “man you should write that down.. that’s too funny.”? I would love for you to do that and send them to me if they relate to art, web, or design clients. Today I’m just going to touch on some in a vague manner myself. Some wounds are a little too new for me to go into detail about just yet.

(note to self..figure out personal statute of limitations on how long you have to wait before telling people all your nutty clients secrets.)

But really I am sure there are some insane people out there that you’ve dealt with. We aren’t trying to make their lives any more difficult. I’m not here to insult people. I want to explain some “quirks” that nobody ever talks about when they talk about client relationships. And lets face it these things are out there and we HAVE to deal with them sometimes.

Robert Service: The men that don’t fit in.

I watched this movie the other night with a poem in it by Robert Service. The movie was called The Mountie. It wasn’t all that great. But at several points durring the movie they do a voice over of these poems that I really liked. I looked it up on search engines and found out the author and decided to post a poem and some info here if this strikes anyone else as nice.
